BUYER BRIEF / OEM ODM

Before requesting an OEM sample, define the decision.

Useful questions before a product direction becomes a purchase order.

A sample becomes more useful when the supplier knows what the buyer is trying to decide. A product name alone rarely provides enough direction.

Describe the customer and channel

Share the market, sales channel, expected user and target price position. This gives the product team a reason behind the specification.

List the non-negotiables

Separate required functions from preferences. Include mounting, control, charging, materials, colour, packaging and any known compliance documentation.

Agree the next review

Set the questions the sample must answer, the changes that can be made and the information needed for the next commercial decision.
