A roadside repair product is not chosen by lumens alone. It has to stay useful beside a vehicle, around tools, in gloves, in changing weather and often with both hands occupied.
Start with the position
Does the user need a light on the head, attached to metal, standing on the ground or carried in one hand? Position changes the product format before any specification is written.
Then define the working distance
Close inspection under a bonnet is different from lighting a recovery area. A focused beam, a broad work light and a hands-free format may belong in the same range, but they solve different jobs.
Make the controls part of the brief
Gloves, low visibility and urgency make control design a commercial decision. Mode memory, a clear switch and a visible charging state can matter more than another headline feature.
Use checks to make the promise credible
Agree how the selected product will be checked against the intended use. Review function, light output, charging, physical handling, water exposure and packaging requirements before the product is ready to order.
